city. Visit the beautiful flower market and cruise through the historic
canals. The ship departs just before dinner and cruises to Arnhem.
|
Almost totally destroyed during WWII, Arnhem is now a modern and
large provincial capital city. This morning's tour is to the world-famous
Kröller-Müller Museum, situated in Holland’s largest National Park
- the Hoge Veluwe. The museum is known for its important collection
of paintings by van Gogh and his contemporaries. For those who prefer
the outdoors, bicycles are available to explore the park, and the museum
has a lovely sculpture garden. Return to the ship and cruise to Cologne
in Germany. |
Early this morning, the romantic scenery of the Rhine River unfolds
as you cruise past tiny villages in an attractive countryside. Arrive in
Cologne after breakfast, docking in the city near the foot of the
towering spire of Cologne's famous Gothic Cathedral. Tour the city and cathedral
before continuing up the Rhine to Koblenz for an overnight stop.
After dinner, explore the lovely old town of Koblenz, which is only minutes
away from your ship’s dock. |
This morning, enter the intimate Moselle Valley and cruise past terraced
vineyards and hilltop castles to Cochem. Visit this charming riverside
town where the old city gates and walls still stand. After a guided stroll
through the town, tour the Reichsburg Castle before continuing along
the Moselle to Beilstein for your overnight stop. |
Dock in Bernkastel and depart for a tour to Germany's oldest city.
See the Roman monuments and impressive Porta Nigra Gate. Your local
guide will then lead you on a stroll through Trier's old market square.
After some free time to explore or shop, return to the ship in Bernkastel.
After dinner you might like to sample some Moselle wine in one of the local
taverns. |
This wine village is strategically located in the middle of the Moselle
region, which stretches from the French border to the Rhine.
Bernkastel boasts more than 500 years of documented wine history.
After a guided walk around the historic city center, tour the Moselle
Wine Museum. Return to the ship for a scenic cruise down the meandering
Moselle. |
This morning, be on deck to see the most beautiful and famous part of the
Rhine River. See castle after castle and the infamous Lorelei
Rock. Today’s scenic cruise ends in the little wine village of Rüdesheim.
Tour the town and visit the unique Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument
Museum. Return to the ship via the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with
wine taverns and restaurants. After dinner, you might like to return to
sample the local vintage. |
Your cruise continues south to the city of Mannheim. After lunch, depart
for a guided tour of Heidelberg, the oldest university town in Germany,
famous for its romantic scenery. Rejoin the ship in Speyer. |
A leisurely day cruising the Upper Rhine. Relax on the sun deck,
play cards with new-found friends or just enjoy the passing scenery. This
afternoon arrive in Strasbourg for a sightseeing tour. Both German
and French influences make this a particularly unique and charming city.
Depart during dinner and cruise overnight to Switzerland. |
This morning arrive in Basel and tour this cosmopolitan city straddling
the Swiss, French and German borders. After lunch, join an optional tour
