Cruising the picturesque Rhine
River, this itinerary offers a captivating journey. No other river in the
world has so many famous cities on its banks – Cologne, Heidelberg,
Strasbourg, and Basel, to name a few. In addition to exploring the many
quaint riverside towns, this cruise provides a detailed look at the Moselle,
with stunning scenery, breathtaking vistas and fairytale castles.

ITINERARY
Day 1 BOARD
YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.
Day 2 ARRIVE
AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND.
Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your ship. Spend the
afternoon exploring the city at your leisure. An overnight mooring allows
you time to enjoy Amsterdam's nightlife. (D)
Day
3 AMSTERDAM.
Tour the "Venice of the North" via canal boat and catch the best
views of Amsterdam's architecture. On a visit to the Rijksmuseum, view the
works of the Dutch Masters including Rembrandt and Vermeer. (B,L,D)
Day 4 ARNHEM.
Begin the day with a visit to Paleis Het Loo Museum, the summer
residence of Holland’s Royal family from 1686 to 1975. Next is Arnhem, a
city that has been completely rebuilt since WWII. Free time suggestions
include the Netherlands Open Air Museum or the art-filled Kroller-Muller
Museum. (B,L,D)
Day 5
COLOGNE.
Dominating Cologne's riverside skyline is its renowned twin-steeple
cathedral. After an included tour of this prosperous city, spend time along
the dockside with its many taverns, cafes, and shops. (B,L,D)
Day 6 KOBLENZ.
At the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers, Koblenz was founded
nearly 2,000 years ago. Highlights include the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress
overlooking the city from across the river. A walking tour along the
cobblestone streets with a local guide completes your visit. (B,L,D)

7 COCHEM.
Situated along the Moselle River, Cochem is a quaint wine village filled
with cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses. The hillside vineyards
create a patchwork quilt along the river's banks, and on the horizon is 11th
century Reichsburg Castle. (B,L,D)
Day 8
BERNKASTEL.
This charming town on the Moselle is the center of Germany's wine growing
region. Your walking tour here will include wine tasting. The balance of the
day is free. (B,L,D)
Day 9
RÜDESHEIM.
Rüdesheim has a fairytale-like setting with beautiful old homes and narrow,
winding streets. Your tour here includes a train ride and a visit to the
Music Museum. During your free time, stroll the lively Drosselgasse, a
shop-lined outdoor pedestrian mall. (B,L,D)
Day 10
HEIDELBERG.
Cruise to Worms, where you will dock and board a motorcoach for a drive
through the Neckar Valley. Enjoy the scenery on your way to Heidelberg. This
old imperial city is home to Heidelberg University, Germany's oldest
educational institution and imposing Heidelberg Castle. After your tour
there's free time in the city. (B,L,D)
Day 11
STRASBOURG.
Arrive in Strasbourg this morning. Enjoy the delights of this
beautiful city, including the fascinating gabled houses that line the
cobblestone streets and the covered bridges spanning the picturesque canals.
Tour the old section of the city and see the Cathedral of Notre Dame, which
dominates the city with its 465-foot spires. (B,L,D)
Day 12
FREIBURG.
Gateway to the Black Forest, Freiburg is a center of wine production as well
as the arts. On your walking tour, admire Old Town and visit the majestic
cathedral. Free time this afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day
13 BASEL.
Arrive in Switzerland and moor in Basel, the "Gateway to the Swiss
Rhineland." A tour will take you to the old market square with its brightly
painted Town Hall and along Minster Hill, past many handsome 18th century
houses to the Minster with its slender twin spires. Your afternoon is free.
You may choose to join an optional tour to the storybook Swiss town of
Lucerne. A farewell dinner on board highlights the evening. (B,L,D)
Day 14 BASEL
