Arrive in Basel and transfer to the River Princess docked
on the Rhine in the center of the city. Embarkation begins at 4pm.

Morning tour of this cosmopolitan city straddling the Swiss, French and
German borders. After lunch, you might like to join an optional excursion
to the beautiful city of Lucerne, surrounded by the towering peaks
of the Swiss Alps. This evening, the River Princess departs
on her journey down the Rhine. |
Sightseeing this morning in Strasbourg. Both German and French influences
make this a particularly charming city. This afternoon, relax on the sun
deck and enjoy the passing scenery, with Germany on the right and
France on the left. Just after dinner, arrive in Mannheim where the
ship will overnight. |
Depart for a guided tour of Heidelberg, the oldest university town
in Germany, famous for its romantic scenery. Rejoin the ship in Mainz and
continue to the little wine village of Rüdesheim. Tour the town
and visit the unique Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum.
Return to the ship via the Drosselgasse, a narrow alley lined with wine
taverns and restaurants. After dinner, you might like to return to sample
the local vintage. |
This morning, cruise the most beautiful and famous part of the Rhine
River. See castle after castle and the infamous Lorelei Rock.
Continue down the Rhine to Cologne, passing quaint villages and the city
of Bonn. In Cologne, visit the spectacular Gothic cathedral. |
This afternoon's tour is to the world famous Kröller-Müller Museum,
known for its paintings by van Gogh and his important contemporaries. The
museum is situated in Holland's largest national park, and has a lovely
outdoor sculpture garden. This evening your cruise continues to Antwerp.

From Antwerp, depart by motorcoach to the romantic city of Brugge,
the capital of Flanders. This charming city is one of the best-preserved
examples of northern Renaissance architecture in Europe. After a walking
tour of the historic city center, take a canal cruise for a different perspective.
This afternoon, explore some of the sights of Antwerp on your own. |
On this morning's tour of the Belgian capital, you will see the beautiful
Grand Place with its rich and ornate buildings, and the famous statue
"Manneken Pis". You will also pass by the headquarters
of NATO, the EEC and the Atomium. Cruise to Dordrecht.

Depart by coach for a short drive to Kinderdijk to see the famous
windmills - 19 of them, built between 1722 and 1761. These fascinating and
picturesque windmills are kept in working order, and one is open for visitors.
Return to Dordrecht for a guided walk through one of South Holland's oldest
cities. Until the 18th century, Dordrecht was the wealthiest trading town
and port in the Netherlands. At lunchtime, the ship departs and enters the
Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, arriving in the Dutch capital after dinner. |
Enjoy a morning city tour that includes a visit to the beautiful Amsterdam
flower market and a cruise through the historic canals. The afternoon is
free to explore on your own. |
