Day 2:
Spend part of the day on your choice of sightseeing tour - a guided walking and canal exploration of the city including St. Mark's Square, the Palazzo Ducale and many other cultural and architectural highlights, or a trip to the colorful lagoon islands of Murano and Burano famous for lace, linen and glass. Day 3:
You have a full day to explore Venice on your own before a launch brings you to the rail station to board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. After a gourmet dinner in one of the vintage Dining Cars, perhaps spend some time in the Bar Car where expertly blended cocktails and a baby grand piano add to the ambiance of travel aboard this most famous of trains. Day 4:
Your steward arrives with breakfast and freshly brewed coffee to start your day. Your sleeping compartment is transformed into luxurious seating from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the European countryside. Day 5:
Straddling the Vltava River, Prague is one of Central Europe's loveliest cities. Almost untouched by World War II, the Charles Bridge, Hradcany Castle and the towering gothic spires of St. Vitus Cathedral hark back centuries. You won't want to miss the Old Town Square with its baroque buildings and the famous 16th century Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Hall. Day 6:
Reboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in time for a decadent afternoon tea served in your private compartment. The time passes quickly as you enjoy the views from your window and prepare for another memorable dinner and evening aboard. Fine food, shimmering crystal and silver, and a formal atmosphere bring the legendary Orient-Express stories of the 1920s and 1930s to life. A gentle knock on your compartment door rouses you from your restful sleep. It is your steward with a tray of fresh coffee and rolls to start your day in the most civilized of fashions. The continental train travels through Paris to Calais Ville on the coast where you cross the English Channel aboard the Eurotunnel Shuttle. The final leg of your journey to London takes place on a British Pullman carriage that pulls into Victoria Station late this afternoon. A private car awaits to whisk you off to your hotel. Day 8:
Spend the day exploring London at your own pace. Day 9:
Bid farewell to London as you are transferred to the airport to board a departing flight. B
