You start in the medieval hilltown of Spoleto, brooded over by an enormous castle. Walking across the stupendous Ponte della Torre, an 80 meter high stone bridge, you enter the wooded hills overlooking Spoleto. The next day, you walk from Spoleto to your farmhouse inn, where you're treated to hearty country cuisine for the next three nights - as well as some excellent walks through the Umbrian countryside. You pass your last two nights in Assisi, with walking to the Carceri hermitage and time to explore the wonders of Assisi, including Giotto's astonishing fresco cycle of the life of San Francesco.
