Tour Itinerary

Day 1 – Depart USA

Overnight Flight to Rome.

Day 2 – Rome at Leisure

You will be met on arrival at Rome airport and transferred to the Cristoforo Colombo hotel at 09.30, 12.30 & 15.00hrs. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore.

Day 3 – Rome Sightseeing

We begin by entering the Vatican City to visit St. Peter's Basilica with it's moving 'Pieta'. There is also the option to visit the Sistine Chapel featuring Michelangelo's stunning ceiling. Then across the Tiber to hear about the glories of the Empire as
we overlook the Roman Forum and see the Colosseum. Tonight why not sample
some typical Italian cuisine? (B)

Day 4 – Rome – Florence

Today we ascend the Apennine mountains to explore Siena, Renaissance rival of Florence. We walk through the cobbled streets to the vast Campo Square, where the biannual Palio horse race takes place. We see the 'Fountain of Joy', and the 'zebra striped' Cathedral. Now a delightful drive through Chianti vineyards brings us to our hotel. (B,D)

Day 5 – Florence – Veneto

Our first view of the city is from Piazza Michelangelo. Then enjoy a leatherwork demonstration, before free time to shop or sightsee. Be sure to explore Signoria Square with its open-air museum, the Ponte Vecchio and tombs of Galileo and Michelangelo in Santa Croce Basilica. Later we descend from the Apennines to arrive in the Veneto region. (B)

Day 6 – Venice Sightseeing

This morning we drive to the Venetian lagoon, where we take our private launch to St. Mark's Square. Here we see the ornate Basilica, Doges' Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, before a demonstration of Venetian glass-blowing. Later, perhaps combine a lagoon cruise with a delicious seafood lunch? (B)

Day 7 – Veneto – Milan

Today we drive through Soave vineyards to Verona where we view Juliet's balcony
and see the Roman arena. We continue to Milan, where we see the Gothic cathedral, as well as the Galleria which leads to the 'La Scala' Opera House. (B,D)

Day 8 – Milan – Assisi

Today we pass the market town of Parma and continue via Forli to Assisi, the home of St Francis. Here, we see the Basilica of St. Francis, before enjoying time at leisure. (B,D)

Day 9 – Assisi – Rome

We continue through the Umbrian countryside to arrive at our Domus Mariae Hotel in Rome. Tonight why not enjoy some home-made pasta and local wines in a trattoria? (B)

Day 10 – Return to USA

Our tour ends this morning with transfers to arrive at Rome Airport at 07.00 and 09.30hrs. (B)
