converted to a four star hotel with exceptional service and friendly staff.
After checking into the hotel, relax and this evening enjoy a full course gourmet
Northern Italian dinner.
Day 3 - NORTHERN ITALY, VILLA LUPPIS
We begin this day with our first lesson in wine tasting. You will receive
an introduction to the world of Italian wines followed by some choice vintage
tasting. You will also be introduced to the regional typology and marriage of
different wines as produced in the Veneto region. A light lunch will follow
with samplings of local products such as salami, ricotta and Montasio cheeses
and desserts from the Natisone Valleys. Each will be accompanied with their
appropriate wines. When this lesson is completed, you will have a very clear
picture of the variety of wines produced from this area and their presence with
food. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. This evening, dinner will
be served in the main dining room.
Day 4 - NORTHERN ITALY, VILLA LUPPIS
Today we begin our cooking lessons with a theoretical and practical lesson
on the execution of a refined menu for special occasions. We begin with the
individual preparation of the Hors-d’oeuvres followed by a "primo piatto", a
first dish, local pasta with eggplant, tomatoes and basil sauce. Complimentary
wines are introduced. This evening you will dine in a trattoria specializing
in pizza. Select your favorite from a long list of interesting and genuine Italian
pizza.
Day 5 - NORTHERN ITALY, VILLA LUPPIS
This morning lesson continues with the planning and individual preparation
of a second or main dish and dessert. Complimentary wines are introduced. This
evening you will enjoy a final gourmet dinner created by the outstanding chef,
guaranteed to be a meal you’ll remember for years to come.
Day 6 - TUSCANY, SIENA
This morning you will be transferred to the local train station in time
to board your first class train to Siena in the heart of Tuscany. Check into
your hotel, the Palazzo Ravizza. The remainder of the day is at your leisure
to rest or explore this beautiful medieval city on your own. This evening enjoy
dinner at your hotel and an introduction to Tuscan cuisine.
Day 7 - TUSCANY, SIENA
Siena is filled with art treasures and you will have an opportunity to see
them unveiled to you by your private art historian and guide. The tour will
begin at the Palazzo Pubblico - the civic center of the city to discuss the
controversy over the famous Guidoriccio fresco and reveal the beauty of the
Simone Martini and Lorenzetti murals. Afterwards, the tour will continue on
foot to the spectacular Cathedral, begun in the late 1200’s. It is one of the
most complex and interesting artistic structures in Italy. Inside you will see
several masterpieces including one of the Renaissance’s most unknown jewels—the
Piccolomini Library by Pintoricchio. This afternoon you have an appointment
at the Enoteca Italiana, a medieval fortress which creates a unique atmosphere
to view and savor wines from all over Italy but especially the famed Chianti
and Tuscan wines. This evening you are free to dine wherever you’d like.
